Abstract

|
A source of xylose was required for the improved production of glucose isomerizing enzyme of Streptomyces sp. K-17.
In order to supply indirectly expensive xylose as an inducer in the cheaper form of xylan, a source of xylose from natural products such as wheat bran and barley bran was investigated for enzyme production. The enzyme productivity was increased in the medium containing 0.5% wheat bran and 0.5% barley bran.
The bacteria was able to utilize (NH©þ)©üHPO©þ favorably, and enzyme productivity was also improved in the addition of 0.5% (NH©þ)©ü HPO©þ to the medium.
Effect of organic nitrogen sources such as yeast extract, peptone and corn steep liquor on the enzyme production was observed. Only corn steep liquor among them stimulated the enzyme production.
